Cinema Terror mostly covers horror and cult movies, because that is what I enjoy to watch. Fans of these type of movies will usually hear from friends how many great movies we miss out of and also questions on why we even bother to watch that low budget “crap”.
So for this upcoming week I will review the seven biggest films of 2012. I base the popularity on their worldwide box office results and I have also eliminated sequels in film series where I have not seen the previous entries. That means thankfully no Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 for me and also no Ice Age: Continental Drift or Madagascar 3. I skipped Skyfall aswell since I have not seen any of the Daniel Craig James Bond films. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is also missing since that is not available at the time I’m doing this.
That leaves me with the following seven films: The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hunger Games, Men in Black 3, Brave and Ted.
I didn’t fall in love with any of these films, most of them are entertaining popcorn films and a few even disappointed me. Based on this list I would have to say that the popcorn crowd didn’t get much back for their money in 2012, but surely they they will disagree with my opinion on that and movies in general.
I will be posting the films from the bottom and up so it will start with Ted and end with The Avengers.
For the curious, the full list of the worldwide box office results of 2012 can be found here on Box Office Mojo.
