Yo, check it bro! Sharks are attacking the shore yo! And they got those big teeth bro! Ain’t no fistpumpin’ in the club with sharks outside, knahmean? One of the guido’s is like missing and we know he been taken by them sharks yo. Police be all up in our faces sayin’ he just drowned and stuff, but we know better bro! So we round up our gang and hunt those sharks down yo! Bro! Yo!
Syfy’s shark movies have become pretty much self-parody movies already, so why not do something that parodies both their own movies and a popular TV phenomenon? Jersey Shore is a successful and very hated TV show without any real qualities except dumb entertainment. The idea of combining that with a shark movie is quite genius and smart.
The gang here is made up of The Complication (Jeremy Luc), Paulie Balzac (Daniel Boko), Donnie (Joey Russo), Nooki (Melissa Molinaro), J-Moni (Alex Mauriello) and BJ (Audi Resendez). As you can tell by the names they are based on the cast from Jersey Shore. None of them are great actors, although Melissa Molinaro is one beautiful woman, Snooki should be proud to have such a lady play “her”. Tony Sirico (Paulie from The Sopranos), Joey Fatone (N’Sync) and Vinny Guadagnino (Jersey Shore) also pops in for cameo’s.
As always with these type of movies it’s the humans fault for messing with nature that makes the animals kill them and the officials don’t believe the people and tries to hide the problem from the public. The sharks look bad, as expected when made by Syfy.
The problem with Jersey Shore Shark Attack is that it isn’t funny enough as a parody and neither interesting enough as a shark movie. They could have been a lot more creative when parodying Jersey Shore, cause the possibilities are pretty much endless there.
Jersey Shore Shark Attack ends up being a missed opportunity for Syfy, which is too bad cause the concept could have worked with more and better humour. It is still not the worst shark movie out there, so if even the sound of a movie like this pokes your interest then by all means give it a watch.
